Ordinary
Lucid
Telepathic
Premonitory
Nightmares
Dream Definitions:
Ordinary Dreams
During the day, our conscious minds are active, but when we sleep, our unconscious mind takes over. Ordinary dreams are based on the activity of the unconscious in response to what we've experienced during our waking hours. Even a single thought during our waking hours can trigger a dream when we are asleep.
Lucid Dreaming
What is lucid dreaming? It is the most vivid dreaming that you can experience.
Lucid dreams are free from the irrationality and narrative disjointedness of ordinary (non-lucid) dreams, and are sometimes seen and remembered with remarkable precision.
During lucid dreams the dreamer may have access to all the memories and thought functions of waking life, and may feel no real difference between sleeping and waking. But above all, the dreamer is aware that he or she is dreaming.
Usually the awareness dawns abruptly. Something inaccurate or illogical in the scenery or events of an ordinary dream can suddenly alert the dreamer to the fact of dreaming. The accompanying surge of excitement and an uncanny sensation of mind expansion make the experience unmistakable.
Colors assume a vivid brightness, as if a veil has been lifted, and objects stand out with an illuminated clarity that surpasses our perception of waking experience. Perhaps most remarkable is the dreamer's ensuing ability to control dream events, deciding where to go and what to do, and to experiment with the dreaming environment (yet, however much power the dreamer may appear to have, he or she can never totally control the events of a lucid dream).
The ability to control the events of a dream arises from a high degree of mental control in waking life. By using different lucid dreaming methods, one can sometimes establish effective communication and co-operation between the conscious and unconscious minds. By bringing these kinds of dreams under control, the dreamer reaches deeper level of self-knowledge.

Telepathic Dreaming
Telepathic dreams, or psychic dreams/psychic dreaming, can occur in two ways:
Between two living people, intentional or unintentional mind-to-mind communication may occur as mental visions in dreams.
Between the living and the dead. Since telepathy is known as the "language of the angels", it allows the living and non-living to communicate, and death is no barrier.
Extended telepathy during sleep is a communion between two worlds...the nighttime world of the soul, and the daytime world of the body.
Premonitory Dreaming
Premonitory dreams, or prophetic dreams, are similar to telepathic dreams in that your spirit leaves your body and ventures on a voyage of discovery. Premonitory dreams are special because they reveal the future and allow the dreamer to see truths that are not accessible in waking life.
Nightmares
Nightmares are the most frightening types of dreams. They are those dreams that venture into the darkest corners of the psyche and the unconscious human experience. We've all had them at some point in our lives, and sometimes we can have these disturbing recurring dreams over and over again for years.
There are many causes of bad dreams. Most nightmares are linked to early childhood, when we were inexperienced and therefore dependent on others. We had a warped sense of reality during these years, and our minds were still very open.
Not all nightmares are nasty predictions or unwholesome signs. Nightmares can help you in waking life...if you have something horrible happen during your dreams, you will know what to avoid during your waking hours. Even though they are scary to have, they actually can teach us valuable lessons.
Some nightmares may relate to an old unresolved problem that is too hard to face during our waking hours. Pay attention to your nightmares, and listen to what they may be trying to say to you.
